TEMPERENCE **Evelyn** //Angelica// <RICE>
-face claim: Zooey Deschanel-
My resume says:: Temperance Eveyln Angelica Rice
But all my fans cheer:: Temperance
If you’re my close friend you can call me Lucky
I’ve got two parents and a maid, and no siblings to steal the spotlight. But my cousins are the Westleys. Know them? You should.
My friends? I’ve got plenty::
Peter;;
We lived through the diaper years together. His parents are besties with my parents and so they hoped we would meet and fall desperately in love. Too bad he’s gay. Bet they didn’t see that coming—if they paid attention to their son, they wouldn’t have been so shocked. We used to give each other make-overs for Christ’s sake.
Paul;;
I admit it. Part of me is in love with the boy, but the other part knows that it will never happen and thank god for that. But he completes our Trio of Awesome and with his amazing talent, I couldn’t think of someone better for it. ToA 4ever!
Mr. A;;
So he’s a teacher. He’s also an amazing director, funny, cool even. I look forward to his class everyday and I feel privileged that he has invested so much time in me. Without him, I wouldn’t be the star that I am now.
My Talents::
Now, I know that I should mention my ‘supernatural’ abilities here. But I’d rather list the things that I’m sure of. If you don’t mind. I’ll get around to the other thing later.
I’ve always been passionate about theatre and all things to do with theatre. I don’t know when my obsession started, probably back when I was four years old and my mother put on All About Eve to pass the time. I remember loving it, memorizing the entire movie, and then, moving on to bigger and better things. The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, A Chorus Line, the list goes on and on. The actresses dazzled me and I knew where I wanted to be. On stage. So, when I was five, Peter and I began taking lessons and I’m not going to be modest—we rocked the house, pwned all the little five year olds, and landed commercial gigs in no time. Unfortunately, my momma didn’t want me to be a famous actress when I was five or six years old. So she pulled me out and told me to concentrate on school and developing my ‘talent.’ Ew.
Of course, naturally, Broadway was the place I wanted to be. So I embarked on my journey to become a Triple Threat Thespian. I took singing lessons and dance lessons—I’m so much better at singing then dancing. I’m naturally clumsy I guess, but since I practice so often, I can hold my own. Singing came naturally, like acting, and with the help of the chorus teachers at my elementary and middle schools, it wasn’t hard to dazzle everyone. Peter was right behind of course—and he beasted me at the dancing, god I’m so jealous.
I can play little guitar, and a lot of piano—that was my Momma’s idea. She thought it would be good for me. I hated it when I was younger but appreciate the fact that I can read music and play pieces. I might try my hand at composing one day… I don’t know. It seems too big for me at the moment.
Oh, I can ride a horse, spit three feet, take on a british accent and I’m okay at fencing. Now I guess it’s time to concentrate on my real ‘talent.’ *rolls eyes*
So both my parents have powers and are rich, my mom being the sister of a Westley. Making this short and sweet, they thought for sure they’d have a child who was the best of both of them. Turns out I wasn’t.
I don’t think I have a power. They insist that I do. They call it “increased manipulation of probability properties.” I just call it “Imopp!” *giggles* According to them, I’m like a good luck charm. Like… I won the lottery once. But that’s just coincidence. I’m telling you this is not really a power. I’m just really good at guessing. That’s how I got the nickname “Lucky.”
I’m ready for my close-up::
Told from Peter’s perspective.
“Temp has been my best friend for so long, so I know her better then she knows herself. Obviously, she’s bubbly and crazy. Very loud, a bit obnoxious at times, but like, a whole lot of fun. I’ve never known anyone funner. That’s not a word is it? Oh well. It should be. She’s the kind of girl to suggest bungee jumping when you’re bored, or she’ll randomly belt out a song when you’re busy scarfing down a hamburger at McDonalds. There are many words to describe my bestie, but shy is not one of them.
She lives for the spotlight and there is no way anyone can steal it from her. Well, not yet. She’s got plenty of talent, sure, but really, it comes down to her skill. We’re all born with a little bit of everything but Temperance took her little bit and made it grow. It’s because of her I like, even have the nerve to stand up in front of people to shake my ass and show ‘em that guys should be allowed to play girl parts too. Yeesh. She’s quite hardworking and ambitious—if she wants something, she’s going to get it. When a play is coming up, she’ll research it and pick out which role she wants. It’s really surprising, cuz sometimes it’s not only the lead.
“The leads are overrated. I want a character that will challenge me. And one that won’t leave me bored.” She once told me. So she’s been everything, from Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, to part of the ensemble in Guys and Dolls. And she goes all the way too. Though she says she’s completely straight, she seemed to enjoy her kissing scenes as Maureen Johnson in Rent. Either that or she’s really a great actress.
I’m not going to lie when I say that she’s spoiled. She is. Our parents are both really rich and so she gets whatever she wants. And the whole “lucky” thing is a big plus. I mean, she won the lottery when she was like ten. (Technically her parents won, but they let her pick the numbers.) So I guess spoiled comes with the rich thing. She is a bit of a flaunter too. She loves dressing up and showing off and being the drama queen. I’ve tried to get her to be subtler, but there’s just nothing subtle about her! Plus… I admit, I love the attention too.
Surprisingly, she’s a good listener. You would think she wouldn’t want to give another human being the time of day, and sometimes that’s true, but if you’re her friend and you’re hurting, she’s the perfect shoulder to cry on. She gives relatively good advice, though usually, it ends the same way every time.
“Don’t worry honey, I’ll fix it, if my name isn’t Temperance Evelyn Angelica Rice. I’ll rent us a good movie, bake some goodies, and we can cry and laugh all night. Sound good?”
And it usually works. She’s a wonderful, intuitive friend—if only she branched out more. Though she’s open and friendly to like everyone, she really only cares for and hangs around people in the theatre department. I suppose it’s because that’s where she’s most comfortable. Well… I guess even Temperance Evelyn Angelica Rice has her insecurities. She’s only human after all.
Here she comes, down the red carpet::
Told from Paul’s perspective.
I met Lucky when I first came here to Solstice. We were both fourteen and we had the same homeroom, most likely because my last name is Riester and hers is Rice. My first impression of her..? Well I was attracted to her. *sigh*
She really is a good-looking girl, with a different sort of look to her. Her hair was actually short and blonde then. I found out later that she had cut and dyed it to appear in Chicago as Roxie Hart. Now it’s much longer, and she dyed it back it’s natural chocolate brown. She must love her hair, because she loves to play with it. She puts it up and down, curls it, straightens it, braids it, puts clips it in. She always looks extremely nice—or extremely weird. It all depends on your sense of fashion. She loves colorful items and make-up. She and Peter like to play around with that. I kind of disappear when it comes time for Pretty Pretty Princess, if you know what I’m saying. Currently she wears her hair, like I said, long and brown, with bangs. It looks fine on her, I guess. Even great on her, if I was being fair. (But I don’t like being fair.)
Her eyes are large, expressive, and a lively blue. But they’re nothing really special about those eyes, they’re just like every blue eyes in the world. This is going to sound really weird, but her nose is the best part of her face. Maybe it’s just because I’ve got this thing for detail *more on that later* but her nose is wide-ish, kind of round. Like a button nose. I’d go out with her just for her nose… you all think I’m weird don’t you? Well, it’s a great nose!
As for her body? *shifts uncomfortably* She’s tall for a girl. Five foot six or something. Long legs. She’s not really skinny like most girls. She’s not fat though. Nah, she’s healthy, I suppose, with curves a dude can ride for miles. Kay that sounded wrong. Forget I said that.
Yeah, that’s it. She’s a pretty girl, but it’s her character that makes it attractive. And her nose.
Where I came from::
Temperance doesn’t have an exciting history. Really, she was born to two parents who were expecting a super-powered prodigy and instead got her. She’s always known that she’s been a disappointment; but that never gets her down. In fact, it makes her try harder. Sometimes too hard. [/center]
