Speak to me
and
Prove I'm alive
<>Ian<> Eyes stared from beneath glasses at the crowds moving around him. A couple people stared at the boy on the bench, but no one approached. All gave him an expression of disgust, fear, and surprise. Why would this boy be sitting in the middle of the mall, on a bench, dripping blood from his finger and picking the other one. His palm had a ton of blood left staining his skin, though he did little to stop it. In fact, he was focused on making his other finger bleed. Was he crazy? Probably, but this was just a case of Dermotillomania. Ian merely liked the way his blood looked at it spilled from the open wounds. He had band-aides in his back pocket, but of course, his hands were bloody. He sure as hell didn't want to dirty his pants. He was surprised by fingers on his shoulder and he fell from his crouching position onto his butt with an 'oomph'. Ian's eyes lifted to see an amused expression on his friend's face. S. h. E. l. l.More stares aimed at the girl as she entered the mall. Her hair was a bright blonde, most of the long pieces pulled back into a ponytail, though her raccoon tail bangs still framed her soft, glowy face. Her eyes were ringed in dark eyeliner and heavy mascara. The eyeshadow was a bright blue, matching her outfit completely. Everything down to her nails and shoes matched. She wore a tight light blue shirt, a random design printed over the front. Her skinny jeans were a light shade of blue that went down to her ankles. Shell's shoes were blue and black checkered flats that showed off most of her pale feet. Her eyes found the other main attraction for the mall that day. Ah, so it was Ian, her dear friend. She snuck up behind him and tapped his shoulder, noticing his disgusting habit. He jumped and landed on his but, leaving a giggle on her lips. She reached into his pocket, pulling out the bandages sticking out. That's disgusting, she commented, grabbing his finger and wrapping the bandages around them. He looked surprised at her, but his face broke into a smile. DO you have like a tissue for that? She rolled her eyes at him and gave a soft sigh, as was her voice. It's not good to show your psychotic mind in public, you know. You might get caught.
[ooc;; i know it's terrible, buti wanted to get a little more use out of the two of them. Feel free to post w/ whomever.]

Amara walked quietly through the mall with her friend's brother, Link. Why the hell she was there with him was another matter entirely. she was there to get a new long sleeved shirt, he was there... to annoy the hell out of her, it seemed. She spotted a guy with bloody hands and a girl with serious mascara on. She tapped Link's shoulder. Look over there, she pointed. He obliged, and then paled when he saw who it was. Ah! he yelled, drawing attention to everybody in the mall. It's that crazy guy Ian! I'm outta here! he turned around, obviously ready to start sprinting away. Amara grabbed his sleeve. What? Wait! What're you so scared about? You can see in to the future, for God's sake! Who is this guy? He looked at her as if she were an idiot. Uh, I think I already stated his name was Ian. And, to be frank, he scares the living shit out of me. He makes me nervous, talked to Silver once, and had very morbid thoughts. Talk to him, you'll see what I mean. But I hate every thought in his head, so I'll stay over here, thank-you. fine. Be like that, you coward. she slapped him on the arm. He puffed out his chest. And proud of it! Amara rolled her eyes and turned, slowly making her way over. This guy did look kinda creepy, come to think of it. A whole new level of scary. There was the regular kind of scary (Link, who scared people by always knowing how to piss them off), a life-threatening kind of scary (Silver), the slow scary (herself), and the creepy scary. This guy had just made the creepy-scary list. The girl looked alright, though. She finally was standing right in front of them. She placed her hands on her hips, her face molding in to it's usual glare. Care to explain why the hell that guy over there is scared of you? she jerked her thumb over her shoulder, pointing at Link. By the way, hi, m' Amara.

<>Ian<> A smirk came over Ian's face as his eyes found someone he knew. The screaming had caught his attention; how could you be scared with him not there? It was insulting. All the same, when he realized he was the cause of the fear, a subtle satisfaction came over him. He laughed, watching him cower away. The girl, on the other hand, marched her figure in front of them. He had no problem but he knew his friend Shell better than he got credit for, and he was completely dumbfounded at what she would do. He's scared because I scared him, he pulled a napkin from his pocket and wiped his hand mostly clean. Ian wasn't one to leave his party to wash his hands, so he handed the bloodied napkin to his dear friend beside him, who tossed it into a trashcan with disgust. And you, my dear, don't seem scared at all. How surprising, he lifted his clean hand and brushed it against her cheek. Before being pulled back and forced to sit by Shell. He flinched away from her. She was just about the only person he ever feared and respected. S. h. E. l. l.Shell's eyes followed Ian's to a commotion, one she didn't have a care for. But, he was curious and a sly smirk came onto his face. He knew the guy, and by the looks of it, he'd scared the bejeezus out of him. He wouldn't approach and was apparently proud to be a coward (information gathered thanks to Shell's good hearing.) When the girl strode forward, though, as if she had the right to disturb what they were doing, Shell perked a brow. She was waiting to see the reason this girl had to interrupt and why she would even want to, for that matter. Sure, Shell looked skinny and fragile, but she'd won her fair share of fights, WITHOUT the use of her powers. Surprising, but true. Her head turned toward Ian. Because I scared him she couldn't help but roll her eyes. What a pitiful response. And when he'd touched the other girl, her arm grabbed his shoulder and shoved him back into the seat. Perhaps you would like to bring your friend over? Ian is kept in check when I am here, Her voice was soft but there was a chill to it. Almost as if she would hurt you if you disobeyed. I am Shell, this is my friend Ian. You must excuse the way his mind works; he can't help it. Shell was still standing, her fingers thrumming on Ian's shoulder.

Amara jerked away from Ian's hand. Don't touch me! she hissed. You could get hurt! And I think I'll do that, she added to Shell. Hey, Link, get over here! This girl can keep him in check, apparently. Don't know what you're so afraid of, Link stayed where he was, firmly rooted to the spot. There was no way he was going over there. Even if the girl, and she did look kinda tough, could keep Ian in check, there was always the problem of being able to hear his thoughts. Which were usually about dead things. If he went over there, he'd be forced to listen to his thoughts of killing people and suchlike. Don't make me take my gloves off, Amara warned. I will. He sighed, and walked over, bracing his mind for the thoughts to come. But hey, as long as Amara didn't touch him, he was good and healthy, at least. Why me? he asked her. Amara glared up at him. Let's just say payback's a bitch. Link turned with a sour look on his face to face Ian. Ian. How's it going. And hello! he said the last part with his usual enthusiasm to Shell. Amara groaned. What an idiot.

Speak to me

<>Ian<> Ian looked suddenly at Shell's face, figuring out her motive before it even happened. His mind covered up for his thoughts; random, bloodied memories of his past. When Link approached, scared of the other girl, he laughed. What that girl would do to him was nothing compared to what Shell might. All the same, he kept his mouth shut and waited for Shell to continue the conversation, too afraid to speak before she did and ruin her concentration. And by the look of her face, he judged she was fixated on deciphering what these people could do. And the threat of the girl had brought an ominous, cloudy look onto his friend's face. Good to see you again, my friend. How has life been doing? Ian looked at his fingers, late after brushing against the girl. He stared, almost as if studying something, as if he could see something. He could. A flash had gone by; he'd seen her run away, and the way her power worked. His eyes widened like he just founded a new species. He looked up to see Shell with an amused expression, staring at him with interested eyes. Something funny? He grinned, knowing exactly what had happened and what was going on. Of course, his thoughts blocked all of this with his sick past in case the boy was 'Listening'.S. h. E. l. l.Shell grinned as he stepped into her barrier, her trap, if you will. Her mind worked quickly, nulling any power he had, but figuring out what it was to use. She was happy with this and suddenly she heard someone's thoughts. She turned toward Ian, taking in all the gruesome images and knew that he had encountered this boy before. That meant that he was covering up his thoughts for a reason. This also amused her. She wouldn't allow him to know that she was using his power. Good to meet you, Link, Her small hand offered a shake to him. I suppose if Ian here knows you, you must be a power holder? She made it a statement and a question. And Amara, she spoke purposely the name she hadn't heard. Amara had not introduced herself and yet Shell knew her name. A subtle hint that would probably not be caught. It was very rude of you to scream at my friend. He doesn't know better, her eyes searched Amara. In a flash, a sadistic expression came over her face. What a power! She would have snickered had she not been in public. She cut off the powers of the others, but continued to null herself and then extended her reach to Ian. Don't be so rude, she snapped at him with a soft grin. He smiled back and stared up at her face.

Oh, life's great, Link muttered. Just a bed of roses. I'm still creeped out at what you did to Silver. he leaned towards Amara and whispered, He's really distubed. No shit, sherlock, she muttered back, then tossed her head and looked at them. Who are you people? What're your powers, if you are one of us? Amara never wasted time, just got straight to the point. She didn't like these weird people, who made her uncomfortable, especially Ian with his touchy-feely personality. She might've just given him cancer, for God's sake! but she had jerked away just in time, so no harm had been done. All of the sudden, Link froze, staring at Shell. What's going on? he whispered. The world has gone... silent. No voices. What have you done? he clutched his head. The change was earth-shaking to him. all his life, he had to deal with voices in his head. Now, when he had finally come to accept it, even cherish his gift, it had left him. Frankly, this change shattered his world, hurt his head, and was too big to take in. He sank to his knees, still holding his head, eyes wide. I feel... vulnerable. he whispered. Amara looked on, impassive on the outside, mixed feelings on the inside. He was her best friend's brother, and kinda her friend as well. What was wrong with him. Maybe his head's gonna explode, she thought. Come on, come on! Wait. If Link's power was gone, then was her's too? She turned to Shell and Ian. What's going on? this was more directed at Shell, seeing as Ian had kind of scared her by brushing her cheek. She loved it and hated it when people touched her.

<>Ian<> Disturbed? I don't think I'm the one disturbed when you're the one cowering away from me.[/b] He chuckled, listening to the girl speak. Oh, and you, miss 'don't touch me.' Would you like to tell me why you act like you're better than me? Is there something wrong with the way i think? And do you have any right to judge me, miss runaway? He spoke cockily, readying himself for a whack from Shell that didn't come. He looked at the satisfied look in her eyes. He knew what she was doing. The images of the past on the bench faded and her barrier closed in on the people. He had seen this many times and Link's reaction was especially humorous. He stood off his bench, watching as Shell's hand dropped from his shoulder and crouched near his 'friend.' Good or bad venerable? his hand, the clean one, didn't hesitate to grab Link's head and shake it. Better to have the voices out once and a while. Same with my power. Just calm down, clear your head, and remember its only temporary, he soothed, changing his mood quickly. His eyes gave a sideways glance to the female, Amara, as Shell had addressed. [/size] S. h. E. l. l.You're never vulnerable when I'm here. You're just bowing under the stress. It's as Ian says, relax. Being without a 'special' power doesn't make you powerless. And yes, Amara, your power is also nulled. Ah, sorry, i suppose i shouldn't use Link's power against you, she shook her head and gave a small laugh at herself. How immature of me! Ian's power is the power of seeing the past of any object or thing. Mine is none of your business, even with her soft voice, she looked threatening at the moment. But i must admire yours. Sure, you hate it. I guess that's what makes you think you may judge my friend here. You fear it, and therefore project a tougher image of yourself to make yourself feel better. In theory, of course, but all the same, it sounds true. Her words were biting, harsh, and Ian's eyes met hers. Humor me this, though. Have you ever once thought of letting down that brick wall of yours? Did you ever think that people with powers were different and could perhaps build an immunity to whatever disease you spat at them. Or would you ever think of using Ian's idea of world domination. Oh! she giggled. There I go again. I should apologize to you, Link. People's minds are so interesting. She murmured softly. Please do forgive me, she took a step forward and brushed softly against his cheek with her fingers, removing the barrier she had put around him. Surely you will, once I've returned what was so dear to you?
