An eye for an eye.......let me feel no pain... There is nothing in this world that Jason couldn’t stand more than ignorant people. People who had no regard for anyone else but themselves. It was why he got himself into so much trouble while growing up. He couldn’t help but pick fights with people who deserved it. And today wasn’t any better. All he wanted was to walk around and get to know this place. And, as always, his plans backfire.
It started out like normal, him and his brothers deciding to get to know the territory since Rose barely came out of the building. It was time they thought about where they were going to go, since they couldn’t stay at this school forever. Him and Nate, they were going to be the first to go, Nate next year, him this year. And they needed to stay near each other, be for each other what they always were: a family.
But that’s when everything went downhill. As always. He was just walking down the street when he saw someone purposely push a girl into the street just to have their way. He knew he wasn’t supposed to be using his abilities in public, in case he was seen, but he knew how to get away with it. He used just enough to run over and snatch the girl out of the way of an on-coming truck. Setting the frightened girl on the sidewalk, he made sure she wasn’t hurt before going after the guy that did it. And then he blacked out.
The next thing he knew, he was probably over a mile away from where he was, and he had a split lip. His entire body was aching from the power surge and he knew the outcome probably wasn’t a good one. Looking up, he saw a sign: Cooney Island. Now he had absolutely no clue where he was. Sighing, he picked himself up from the alley he was in and wandered along the pier, looking around, wiping the blood from his lip. Rose was going to kill him...

Her feet pressed hard into the sand, leaving clear prints from the soles of the black and white spotted pumps she wore on her feet. Her hands were buried deep in the pockets of the electric blue hooded sweatshirt she wore, and her legs inclosed in zebra-striped skinny jeans. Her hair blew back in the wind, revealing a similarly black and white polka-spotted bow clipped into the chocolate-coloured locks. Cadence's teal eyes were fixed upwards, as though she were watching the clouds. She was humming tunelessly, her steps taking her to no definite place in particular. She had simply wanted to get out of the campus for a while. There was nobody around, but for a guy up ahead, who was getting to his feet. Cadence walked towards him, her hands still buried in her pockets. Questions raced through her mind. What was he going on the ground? Was he simply watching the clouds (though it was hardly the weather for that) or was he hurt? She wondered whether to ask or not, not wanting to make a nuisance of herself. Eventually, after dithering for a moment or two, she removed her hands from her pockets, folded them across her chest, and padded to his side.
"Hey, um..." her voice was quiet. "You okay?" She noticed the split lip, and winced a little, her eyes screwing up, before she reassembled her porcelain skin to a perfectly smooth expression. She scraped a foot along the ground, making ruts in the sand, looking downwards, not wanting to intimidate the guy. She looked up through her thick fringe, biting her lip as she waited for an answer.

Jason let out a sigh as he walked, pulling his hands in his pockets and trying to figure out exactly how he was going to get back to the school. It was then that he noticed a girl heading towards him, looking rather anxious or shy, either one making him wonder why she was walking in his direction. He supposed it was because of the lip, especially after the way the girl winces at the sight of it, but he just ignores it, instead raising an eyebrow at her question instead.
"I'm fine. Why do you ask?" he replied, his voice soft and monotone as it always is. If he had known she was worried about intimidating him, he would have laughed. It would take much more than an outgoing girl to intimidate him. Life was far too rough and too short to care about something like that. He would know, it affected his life many times and many, many ways.
