New York is a beautiful and exciting place to be, as most people know. If you dislike chilly weather, however, you're in for a spot of trouble. The winters here are bitingly cold, resulting in red noses and large coats. The winter's not all bad--many view the snow as a whimsical, romantic thing, and there are tons of celebrations and sales during this time. Hey; you could always pick up some cookies and hot cocoa to warm you up. Everyone loves that stuff.

little black book. Your metaphorical lawbook. The rules and regulations of Solstice are listed and explained here; it is highly recommended to read over these before doing any posting--you don't want to accidentally get in trouble.
bulletin board. (1 sub-board) Announcements and updates concerning the site will be posted here; the newest and most important threads will be universally stickied, in case someone forgets to check here regularly.
archive library. (3 sub-boards) Old or dead threads will be eventually locked and moved here. Solstice believes in keeping all threads--never deleting--for future records and usage.
the academy store. Whenever your post (and in your profile), do you see that little 'Money' category under your Location and Karma? That money can be put to use here, where you can buy little extras for your account.
staff conference room. This is where the staff and I will meet and discuss things for the site--plots, revamps, problem solutions, and other goodies.

creating CHARACTERS.
character portfolios. Face it. Most people like to read about your characters before their own interact with them. You know, to be more informed. And it's pretty annoying having to search through pages of cryptically-named bio threads to find every character. So this is where everything comes together; a place to keep links to all of your bios.
pending applications. This is where you go to create the profiles for your character. Once accepted, the profiles will be moved to the 'Accepted Bios' board, and you may began roleplaying them. If declined, I will post what's wrong with them and await their repair.
biography file cabinets. (2 sub-boards) All accepted character profiles will be moved from 'Pending Applications' to here. Once moved here, the characters are activated and ready for roleplay.
help desk. Need a person to portray your character? Post a short description of their looks and we'll help. Want your character to have a new relationship? Post away. Need a partner for a subplot? Well, you get the idea.

solstice academy CAMPUS.
the office. (1 sub-board) Located front and center in the main building, the office is where all the official school operations go down. It contains three places--the Principle's office, the Nurse's office, and the secretary desk. Oh, yes. And... the detention hall.

classrooms. Where all the learning takes place. Well... all the curriculum-related learning, that is. Solstice provides all of the core subjects, of course--Mathematics, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies--in enriched doses, along with music, art, computer-related things, and study hall.

the cafeteria. Like every school, Solstice provides an on-campus eating facility. You can always go to one of the various off-campus restaurants, but hey--it's good food, conveniently. Free Wi-Fi services and a variety of foods/beverages are also included.

the library. (1 sub-board) With thousands of books, the academy's library is certainly well-stocked. Surprisingly, it's a nice place to be. It's pretty private, with the countless walls of shelves, and comfortable, with oak chairs, beanbags, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

the common room. Up on the second floor is this somewhat-lounge for everyone in the school. Yes, teachers and faculty are included. Even so, with overstuffed couches, multiple TVs, a beverage machine, and free internet connection, it's not all that bad. Just be sure not to accidentally miss class by hanging here.

the courtyard & surrounding fields. (1 sub-board) The courtyard is located in the very heart of the school, with a few benches, some plants, and a man-made pond. A great place to cut through if you're strapped for time between classes. The surrounding fields are... well, the fields that surround the campus.

the rooftop. The roof, of course. It's not really a popular spot, so it makes for good privacy and a nice view of campus. Make sure not to get caught, though; students aren't allowed up there unsupervised.

secret student lounge. Created years ago by a group of notably rebellious students, this is like the common room... except less fancy and more secret. As in, the adults have absolutely no idea about it. Not just anyone can get in, though; to gain access to this special place, you must purchase the password with your account money in the Academy Store thread.

hallways. [stairwells/elevators] Self-explanatory, really. The halls that link everything in the building. Of course, lockers are located here, as well as all of the stairwells. It may seem like pure simplicity, but a lot of stuff goes down in the hall.

dorms and ROOMING.
girls' rooming. Self-explanatory, really--the girls' dorms are here. Where they reside within the Academy. Each student gets their own room... unless there is a special circumstance where they need someone around. Remember, no boys after hours. But then again, there are those who don't follow the rules...

Each student gets their own room... unless there is a special circumstance where they need someone around. Remember, no girls after hours. But then again, there are those who don't follow the rules...
new york city. (10 sub-boards) Since New York's most renowned city isn't too far from the school, many students find themselves going here on bored weekend afternoons. There are countless sights to see, places to go, and things to try... after all, it IS the city that never sleeps. Remember to keep cool; you don't want to accidentally demonstrate your special... abilities out in the open.
coney island. Overlooking the shore, Coney Island is a fantastic place to have some good, old-fashioned fun. Along with a beautiful beach, the main feature is the lively boardwalk--featuring tons of carnival rides and tiny shops.

hudson river. (1 sub-board) Near NYC, the Hudson River is a beautiful body of water with unique scenery. In some parts, you can see grassy slopes, peacefully curving... and in others, you can glimpse the towering skyscrapers of the city. Take a brief cruise or tour, or just relax on the shore.

abandoned mansion. The locals have told you many stories about the abandoned mansion in the heart of a small forested grove. Most of them are pretty scary, too. The thing is, do you believe them?

shopping mall. Ah, the mall--a pop-culture-infested wasteland. Most would consider it pretty fun, though. The cool thing about the mall is that it caters to a variety of different interests. Come here to shop for anything and everything, grab a bite to eat, run around in the fountain, head to Starbucks, or just look around.

elsewhere. Since Solstice Academy is a boarding school, you're not away from the school on holidays. However, students have the option of visiting their relatives/family/old friends.

other COMMUNICATION.
cell phones. (1 sub-board) Simply put, these are your cells. Text, send a pic, or leave a voicemail. It's a quick, fun way to communicate with your friends.
instant messaging. Instant Messaging, or IMing, has become an increasingly popular system of communication--especially among the younger crowd. Make a screenname for your character, and they can connect with their friends instantly. Awesome? Quite.
xanga. (4 sub-boards) If you wish, each of your characters can have a blog that other characters can read and comment on. Make it your own with images and phrases, and enjoy.
the wall. Contrary to the faculty's knowledge, there's a brick wall out behind the main building, shrouded in greenery. Students come here to doodle graffiti... and scrawl in messages and anonymous rants.

general discussion. (2 sub-boards) Talk amongst yourselves, with topics ranging from... well, just about everything. The majority of OOC chatter will be in here--think of it as the "everything else" board. Have fun, but try and stick to the Rules.
welcome aboard. (1 sub-board) It's what the title says--welcome. This board is for introducing yourself to our community. We'll greet you with open arms, I promise. (: Don't worry--we don't bite.
studios. (1 sub-board) Create graphics/art/etc. shops to showcase your work and let members request things. Likewise, use the sub-board to specifically ask for the aforementioned; our talented members can try to fulfill your request.
